CONTEXTUAL : Production Report 2.2

So after some more filming with my teammates,
I have some things I have come across while working with them.

Although filming has been great with my teammates,
but undeniably there would be some tiny little problems that would occur once a while.

Like, for example,
disagreement on each other's opinions.

Opinions and ideas can be shared, but that doesn't mean we all should just follow one's talk.
For example, there was one part where our heroine, Veronica Jones
has to circle on a newspaper about the museum which was broken into.

From my point of view,
whatever angle in which the words were circled doesn't matter too much,
as long as Veronica doesn't circle the number 6 or even circle on the table instead.

But apparently it was deemed inappropriate to circle parts of the words.

And then we used so many printed papers and ink, plus lots of practice just to get the circling "right".

Around an hour plus was used just to circle the words.

I don't like spending too much time on something in which could have been done in 10 minutes.

Of course I do agree that some in which our Veronica Jones had circled
was a little bit out of line and even
crossed the tables,
but there are also plenty scenes that was already suitable for the scene.

What to do.
What has done has already been done.

Note to self:
Next time try to reason out and balance out opinions on both parties.

During our filming for the office scene,
My mom have graciously lent us the office
in which my mom works in for filming purposes.

We had originally pasted the words "Chief Editor" on an office door to film it in,
but at the end we abandoned that clip.

The papers used to throw onto Veronica Jones in the film.
We threw it so many times that it was wrinkly and crumpled.

Testing out the angles for shooting on one of my mom's co-workers.

 They're really nice people,
and I left a note telling them that
we would be filming but we will put everything back in position after shooting.

Honestly speaking, we don't know what any of the notes are about.
They're a string of numbers and some scribbles about lunch I think.

And guess what? We have me (who was originally supposed to only be a cult member)
to act as the angry boss later on!
My clothing that day fortunately was pretty suitable,
so they just went ahead and filmed  me walking to Veronica's cubicle.

On another day,
we went on to shoot a scene where Alice and Veronica had to run for their lives
after realizing that the cult was going to get to them and kill them soon.

This is Ailsa putting makeup for Alice.
Not sure who was behind the camera and didn't make this shot focused.

Then, we headed to the car park stairs
to film our scene.

Then we had Veronica running down the stairs, later on followed by Alice.

More coming up soon!

2D Design : What's your square ?

Square is a square. Or is it a square ? Designers have to have wild and wide imagination. In this task, we have to create something out of a simple square. The formula was simple, we have to expand the square and create a design.

Weirdly, I was having a very hard time on this assignment. This assignment by far the hardest compared to miss maslisa's class during semester 1.

We have to create 2 paper cutouts. one with symmetrical design and one with asymmetrical design. On top of that we also have to create movement in it.

during the what's your square design process.
more people.

My original theme was geometry lines incorporated with illusions. But all my design didn't seems to workout.

So i changed my theme to 'The Girl"

these are few of my inspiration.

And here are my final design.

we were suppose to present it a week earlier than we did but something come up and miss maslisa couldn't come. But we already set up everything for presentation.

For the following week, we were supposed to do our presentation in the studio but unfortunately, the morning of the presentation, architecture students messed up the studio and the studio look like a shipwrecked ! So we presented all of our works in the middle middle of the corridor.

During the presentation, everyone presented amazedballs designs .

Sorry for the blurriness of the pictures.

And here mine in a corner down here.

And I'm glad Miss Maslisa said she likes it.

She also said, "There's definately movement there."

CONTEXTUAL : Production report 2.1

As we continued the filming, we were assigned to complete a teaser trailer and come up with a movie title. We sat and think hard about it.

We also decided not to reveal too much but enough to create curiosity, tension and confusion to the viewers.

And here are trailers from other group.

2) The Overwrite

3) Silent Murders

4) Ignis Fatuus

Enjoy your curiosity and let the brain run wild. :)

CONTEXTUAL : Contextual Approach 2

Scene : Library

In this scene, mysterious and silent atmosphere was created. In the sense of visual communication, the character's partial body movement and facial expression will be seen to let the audience complete the picture by themselves.

Just like a curve line, it will create a sense of movement because the curve can be connected at the end of the tip to create a straight line. The viewer does this unconsciously and this trigger efforts in their minds. Not giving out everything will make them think, and that's exactly what we wanted to do.

Eyes movement is other hands play a big role in this film. Some people can read other's mind just by looking into one's eyes. This is because eyes play a big and important roles in communication.

In our movie, we decided for this scene to have our main character have the eyes of a person who is starting to doubt the presence of truth within her and the cult. She stares, she thinks, her eyes analyses everything in the picture and in front of her.

Eyes makeup play a big role in a movie too.

Even in black and white movie, the shape of the eyes and the eyebrows can deliver either good or bad message to the audience. Similarly to the pictures above, harsh and thick arch brow represent boldness, anger and mean. On the other hand, soft eye make up represent good person, trust-worthy and innocent.

Now, we focused on the setting of the scene,

During this scene, we focused on the object clip between the book. The book also contain certain secret yet to be discovered by viewers. The library may seem like an ordinary library, but during filming production books from authors like Dan Brown is included and placed on the shelves.

I find this very much similar to our story, since our story line revolves around the characters constantly searching and finding out what is really going on in the world, what they would discover and even how are they going to manage everything that is going to be dug out by them.

Scene : Gallery

This time Veronica Jones (The Journalist) go to the gallery again to interview the curator. Unlike the night before, the gallery was bright and there was a lot of people coming in and out from the gallery looking at the artifacts which are still on display.

This is one of the scenes taken in the gallery in our campus,
called CODA gallery.

Fortunately, there was an exhibition going on around there that lasts around 2 weeks,
and we were able to to grasp that idea and film day scenes of random people walking by and just looking at the artworks displayed there.

we didn't need much light in the gallery as natural light from the outside had helped us provide the amount of brightness a gallery should have. The glossiness of the floor that reflects both the movements of the viewers and the artwork hung on the walls provide a sense of calmness in the gallery, nothing to hint whatever that has happened before this, nothing suspicious to provide other than the alone display stand that seemed soulless without the hauntingly beautiful artifacts.

Here we have the curator, trying to defend himself and for what he has done.
Special thanks to our friend Fariz (aka, Freeze) who is willing to help us act out of this side role in the movie.
The curator has glitchy and nervous eyes,
trying to avoid the question that he knows the main character might ask.
When being asked, however,
as the person who is in charge of the whole art gallery,
and who is knowledgeable towards many of his favourite artworks, he talks casually the same way and answering the same way as how he would when any tourist or any person, to be mattered, to ask him questions about the famous artworks in the gallery.

Although that, he accidentally slips something that he does not wish this female main character to know about. And while he tried to cover up this silly mistake,
our Journalist quickly catches up, and waves it away coolly like it was nothing.

Another close up on the eyes, showing emotion and swiftness as shes trying to catch up with the curator.

Let the mysteries unfold as the time goes by
