CONTEXTUAL : Contextual Approach 2

Scene : Library

In this scene, mysterious and silent atmosphere was created. In the sense of visual communication, the character's partial body movement and facial expression will be seen to let the audience complete the picture by themselves.

Just like a curve line, it will create a sense of movement because the curve can be connected at the end of the tip to create a straight line. The viewer does this unconsciously and this trigger efforts in their minds. Not giving out everything will make them think, and that's exactly what we wanted to do.

Eyes movement is other hands play a big role in this film. Some people can read other's mind just by looking into one's eyes. This is because eyes play a big and important roles in communication.

In our movie, we decided for this scene to have our main character have the eyes of a person who is starting to doubt the presence of truth within her and the cult. She stares, she thinks, her eyes analyses everything in the picture and in front of her.

Eyes makeup play a big role in a movie too.

Even in black and white movie, the shape of the eyes and the eyebrows can deliver either good or bad message to the audience. Similarly to the pictures above, harsh and thick arch brow represent boldness, anger and mean. On the other hand, soft eye make up represent good person, trust-worthy and innocent.

Now, we focused on the setting of the scene,

During this scene, we focused on the object clip between the book. The book also contain certain secret yet to be discovered by viewers. The library may seem like an ordinary library, but during filming production books from authors like Dan Brown is included and placed on the shelves.

I find this very much similar to our story, since our story line revolves around the characters constantly searching and finding out what is really going on in the world, what they would discover and even how are they going to manage everything that is going to be dug out by them.

Scene : Gallery

This time Veronica Jones (The Journalist) go to the gallery again to interview the curator. Unlike the night before, the gallery was bright and there was a lot of people coming in and out from the gallery looking at the artifacts which are still on display.

This is one of the scenes taken in the gallery in our campus,
called CODA gallery.

Fortunately, there was an exhibition going on around there that lasts around 2 weeks,
and we were able to to grasp that idea and film day scenes of random people walking by and just looking at the artworks displayed there.

we didn't need much light in the gallery as natural light from the outside had helped us provide the amount of brightness a gallery should have. The glossiness of the floor that reflects both the movements of the viewers and the artwork hung on the walls provide a sense of calmness in the gallery, nothing to hint whatever that has happened before this, nothing suspicious to provide other than the alone display stand that seemed soulless without the hauntingly beautiful artifacts.

Here we have the curator, trying to defend himself and for what he has done.
Special thanks to our friend Fariz (aka, Freeze) who is willing to help us act out of this side role in the movie.
The curator has glitchy and nervous eyes,
trying to avoid the question that he knows the main character might ask.
When being asked, however,
as the person who is in charge of the whole art gallery,
and who is knowledgeable towards many of his favourite artworks, he talks casually the same way and answering the same way as how he would when any tourist or any person, to be mattered, to ask him questions about the famous artworks in the gallery.

Although that, he accidentally slips something that he does not wish this female main character to know about. And while he tried to cover up this silly mistake,
our Journalist quickly catches up, and waves it away coolly like it was nothing.

Another close up on the eyes, showing emotion and swiftness as shes trying to catch up with the curator.

Let the mysteries unfold as the time goes by

Lots of Love
Lisa Viour.
